El Tecuan

The dance of the Tecuan is a traditional dance that is celebrated in parts of Puebla and Guerrero mexico. It represents the hunt of the beast who threatens the livelihood and safety of those who live where it hunts. The dance consists of several dancers disguised as Animals others as hunters and of course the Tecuan.

This design honors yet another example of the rich cultural heritage of Mexico and of course the people who keep it alive.

We created this design as a linocut print in black and white but we felt we couldn't stop there since our culture IS COLOR, it is Maximalism it is bright loud and colorful!
