Hatuey

Hatuey one of the biggest inspirations for our brand. Rebels since 1492 was inspired by many just like him who fought who resisted. In 1511 Hatuey along with 400 of his men traveled by canoe from what is now Haiti and the Dominican republic to Cuba to warn the natives there of what was coming. Hatuey told them this "the intruders worship gold, fight and kill, usurp our land and makes us slaves. For gold, slaves, and land they fight and kill; for these they persecute us and that is why we have to throw them into the sea". After a year of fighting hatuey was captured and brought out for a public execution. While tied he was asked if he would accept god so he could go to heaven. Hatuey asked "do Christians go to heaven" the friar responded yes so to which Hatuey said that he would rather go to hell where he wouldn't see such cruel people.
